Why I Support Dunleavy

Written by Pamela Samash

What would you do if someone returned $2000 they owed you today? Without hesitation, I would get airline tickets for my family and I to go to Spokane WA so we could visit my daughter and granddaughter. Wouldn’t that be such a nice surprise!

When I think of the next election for governor, I know exactly what I’m looking for. I do not want state taxes, I do want my entire PFD, I would appreciate having a voice again as a citizen of Alaska instead of being told, “how it’s gonna be”, and as a mom, it’s important that my husband and I have the freedom to make choices in our daugh- ters’ education.

Regarding our PFD, stealing that money was inexcusable and entirely unnecessary, and as a result of this decision our economy was damaged, many businesses suffered and Alaskan families were financially weakened. This robbery was com- pletely preventable, all Juneau needed was good ole’ common sense; don’t spend what you don’t have. It is that simple. The present governor tries to complicate it, but that’s just smoke and mirrors so he can continue wasteful spending. Dunleavy knows that we the people can utilize that money better than the state ever could.

In this governor’s race, our family is voting for Mike Dunleavy. Not only does he meet our ex- pectations in what he says, but he has proven it by how he voted in his previous actions as a senator and during his term as president of the school board in the Matsu School District.

While in office Dunleavy sponsored a bill that would not allow new taxes without the vote of the people. What a refreshing idea that is! He also voted against a budget that spent too much and included Walker’s PFD grab. As a result of his bold move, he was “disciplined” by being removed out of his Caucus, Commitee assignments and he lost his staff. Obviously doing what’s right by the people of Alaska is more important than anything

else to Dunleavy and he’s willing to suffer for it. That’s the type of leader I’ve been praying for.
For the first time in a while I am excited about an election! Finally there’s someone running who cares about us and when I say us I mean our state, our families, our education and our freedoms. This man is on our side, the people.

If these issues mean the same to you as they do to me, please vote for Mike Dunleavy. Let’s end this age of tyranny and get Alaska back on its feet again. God bless Alaska!
