  • You fucking jackass. Did you even notice that you posted the salary of Allen Brandt, who was shot and killed in the line of duty last fall, leaving behind a wife and four little children? Nearly 100% of the salaries you posted are for people whose job it is to protect the public, and who put their lives on the line to do so. The ones that do not are salaries that are commensurate to industry standards. So, what is your point? Should the city and the borough pay lesser salaries? That would be a great way to obtain and retain talent. I have an idea. How about you move to the unorganized borough, where there are virtually no services? Then you can report back to us and tell us what dollar value you think fire and law enforcement services have. And, you don’t ever use a burdened labor rate when calculating take home pay, you moron. Take an economics class, for crying out loud.

    • No I did not notice that Brandt had made it in. He was deleted for the print copy. I apologize for my oversight on here. When I originally set out to post the highest paid salaries in Fairbanks I had no idea it would be cops and firefighters that would be the top earners.
It’s funny you say that their job is to protect yet we have one of the highest crime rates per capita. Police aren’t doing their job that is why I posted it. Ask a local business how they feel about the local police response.
If they are being robbed it is up to them to take care of it. The average response time in Fairbanks is 43 minutes to 2 hours regardless of weather or time of day. I asked the people what they wanted and this was the overwhelming response. “Investigate the police!”
We have nothing but respect for the cops who are doing their jobs. Those who took that oath to protect and serve are real hero’s For those who are falsifying retirements, overtime and all around not doing your job, you are the target.
