Two meetings one night

Written by Heather Penn

Last night hosted the annual GVEA meeting at 6pm in the Herring Auditorium. Several people arrived to voice their concerns about the amount of money Fairbanks citizens pay for GVEA utilities.

Elsewhere at 6pm the NorthStar Borough Assembly meeting got under way. Many people arrived to voice concerns about the upcoming proposed budget cuts. Private citizen David Long proposed a “trimming” of

programs instead of just cutting the whole program. “It is making students give up everything,” he said!

The borough emphasized that they spent the last two Saturdays carefully scrutinizing each aspect of the multi-paged budget, “school funding is very important to the board,” said Kathryn Dodge.

Stay tuned as we wait and see what proposals are brought forth.
